There are lots of diabetes diet books around, but are they all good? Or are there some books that possibly lead you astray? We’ll take a look at what makes a good diabetes diet book (or ebook), and I’ll have some resources for you.
Diabetes and Our Lives
Let’s face it, in most of our cases, diabetes is a direct result of our eating patterns. When it comes to diabetes type two, nine times out of ten it’s a direct correlation to our weight.
Why do we gain the weight? The vast majority of time it’s because of poor eating habits. And those habits have evolved as part of our culture. Think about it a second.
We’re under all kinds of stress in our daily lives. Our jobs are taking up a larger portion of our lives — a 40-hour work week is almost a joke anymore. Our schedules are tight; coordinating who goes where at what time is sometimes more luck than reality.
We skip lunch because of our workload, then we hit the vending machines in the afternoon because we’re ravenous.
Dinner? Who has time to make any? Fast food makes so much more sense, It’s quick and easy, especially when it’s a drive-though or can be delivered!
Ummm…do you see anything wrong with this picture?
Diabetes Diet Books Make Sense!
Maybe you know that you should be eating better. But what exactly does eating better involve? For example, should you switch from full-sugar soda to diet coke? Or should you just be drinking fruit juice instead?
The answer to both is no. No, you should not be drinking full-calorie soda or diet coke or fruit juice. All three of them can aggravate your diabetes!
For most of us, beating diabetes type two involves kicking the sugar habit. And in today’s culture, that is much, much harder than it sounds.
Sugar is everywhere. Did you know it’s probably in your salt, if you use a national brand? Check the label and see (I did check, and I was stunned to see sugar as an ingredient).
Let me introduce you to a very nice lady named Jonni Good who has written a great book about how to break our addiction to sugar. In her diabetes diet book called Weight Loss: How to Keep Your Commitment, Jonni tells us how we got addicted in the first place. And then details what we can do about it.
I can tell you first-hand, breaking the sugar habit is hard — but that it can be done! And Jonni’s book helps so much, even after the sugar curse is broken. It’s something I know I can pick up anytime to help keep me motivated.
So that’s the first of the diabetes diet books I’m recommending. You can take a look at Weight Loss: How to Keep Your Commitment here (or just click on the photo of the book). Read more about it. Consider what it can do for you.
Diabetes is a scary disease. Don’t let out-of-control blood sugar rule your life. Fight back with knowledge.
